Gloucester Rugby have confirmed that centre Seb Atkinson has put pen to paper on a new contract extension at Kingsholm.

Signed during the 2022/23 season after the demise of the former team, Worcester Warriors, Atkinson made an instant impact in Cherry and White, racking up 16 appearances and being named Stowford Press Supporters Young Player of the Season and Kit Tanner Young Player of the Season which was voted for by the coaches.

Two seasons on, Atkinson continues to be an invaluable member of the Gloucester Rugby squad, accumulating over a half-century of games for the club at just 22 years old. Cherry and Whites Director of Rugby, George Skivington, said: “We’re really pleased to secure Seb’s future at Kingsholm.

“After two and half seasons and over fifty first-team appearances, it’s easy to forget that Seb is still just 22 years of age and has lots of developing still to go. There’s no doubt Seb has the potential to push for higher honours.

“It’s a trend across all the young guys that have re-signed for next season, and it’s why we’re so excited about what this group can achieve.”

Atkinson added: “When I joined the Club in 2022, I instantly felt at home and I felt it was an environment that was going to bring the best out of me.

“George and the coaches have shown plenty of times how much they trust in and back the young players, and that’s given me so much confidence in my game.

“I’m really happy here at Kingsholm, and I know that I can continue to grow here and hopefully help this team kick on to reach the highs that we know we’re capable of.”
