Gossip: Could Antoine Griezmann finally make a move to Manchester United and the Premier League? Reports suggest the move is set to happen

Imagine how different the top of the Premier League table might look today if Manchester United had signed Antoine Griezmann last summer like they were supposed to. That 17-point gap to Manchester City might be, who knows, 15 points?

But we may not have to imagine much longer, because according to the Express the deal could still happen. The paper claims Griezmann’s club Atletico Madrid are interested in two United players – Ander Herrera and Anthony Martial – and this could open the door to a “stunning swap deal”.

Atleti are allegedly ready to pay a combined £70m for midfielder Herrera and forward Martial, who have struggled for playing time under Jose Mourinho, while Griezmann is poised to leave the Wanda Metropolitano for around £87m.

The only snag with the Express’s story is that everyone else seems to be in agreement that Griezmann is definitely on his way to Barcelona. The Mirror reports that Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu held “talks” with the player’s agent in October.

Bartomeu also claimed he had “bumped into him (Griezmann) occasionally in the Balearic Islands”, presumably at some pumping Ibiza nightclub where the French forward got off his nut and vowed to move to the Nou Camp and become the new Messi.

Ozil attitude angers Arsenal teammates

Arsenal probably wish Antoine Griezmann had moved to Old Trafford last summer too, because then he wouldn’t have helped knock them out of the Europa League last week. And the Gunners may also wish they hadn’t made Mesut Ozil the highest paid player in their history.

The Sun says the German playmaker’s teammates are “fed up with his shocking prima donna attitude” after he was accused of “picking and choosing” the games he plays in.

A back problem and series of mystery illnesses have ruled the 29-year-old out of a large chunk of Arsenal games this season, normally the boring ones in places like Burnley and BATE Borisov.

Meanwhile, the Gunners’ search for a man to oversee next season’s exciting Europa League campaign has led them to Carlo Ancelotti. The Star says the jobless Italian has been identified as a “back-up option” if moves for Max Allegri and Luis Enrique fail, which can’t do much for Carlo’s self-esteem.

Also in the Star, Chelsea are said to have leapfrogged Liverpool in the race to sign Lyon playmaker Nabil Fekir. The Blues are now in “pole position” to land the 24-year-old Frenchman in a £62m deal this summer.

Commenting on the rumours Fekir said, “There’s nothing for the moment. I’m still at Lyon,” displaying an excellent knowledge of his current whereabouts.

Elsewhere, the Blues could sell striker Alvaro Morata to his former club Juventus and replace him with Paris Saint-Germain’s Edinson Cavani (Metro), Liverpool have spoken to Juve about bringing Sami Khedira to Anfield in a midfielder-swap for Emre Can (Sun) and Andres Iniesta’s move from Barcelona to Chinese side Chongqing Lifan is “in doubt” due to financial concerns (Goal). Possibly after Iniesta found out he would be earning a lower wage than Graziano Pelle.
