Gossip: Paul Pogba 'always welcome' at Barcelona, Real Madrid 'do not watch' Mbappe or Neymar

Paul Pogba’s future at Manchester United has been a source of speculation for a while, and Luis Suarez would happily have him at Barcelona.
Paul Pogba’s future at Manchester United has been a source of speculation for a while, and Luis Suarez would happily have him at Barcelona.

International break: Day two. Or three? Four? Who even remembers by this point.

As we search for meaning from the weeks of wilderness that is the international season, LaLiga players are periodically reminding us that club football is not *that* far away.

And Luis Suarez is the latest to continue Spanish football’s tradition of launching a charm offensive when one of their top guns wants a player.

The Uruguayan forward has joined Gerard Pique in the space of *less than a week* to speak about how good a player Paul Pogba is.

“Pogba’s an elite player who’s won everything,” Suarez told RAC1 on Tuesday. “He has a lot of quality and he’s one of the references at United.

“I think he would like to be competing for more than he is at the moment.

“He’s not a player that belongs to Barca, but he would always be welcome.”

Right, then. So in short, Pogba knows where he is wanted if Jose Mourinho decides to get rid of the €100m man.

The plot thickens?

The Metro, though, suggests it is not so clear cut. According to the outlet, Pogba is ‘desperate’ to play under his hero Zinedine Zidane – and believes he may have a chance of doing so at United.

Hang around, oust the current manager and have the opportunity to remain at one of the biggest clubs in the world under your idol?

It’s hard to imagine that is not a serious option for the World Cup winner.

Mbappe or Neymar to Real?

Meanwhile, Real Madrid manager Julen Lopetegui has responded to links with Paris Saint-Germain duo Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

Unsurprisingly, he opts not to talk in depth about the pair.

“I will not talk about players who are not part of my team, it would be disrespectful,” he said.

“I like [Gareth] Bale, [Karim] Benzema and Lucas Vasquez.

“Neymar and Mbappe are two fantastic players, but I do not pay attention, they are not in my team.”

“I do not pay attention.” Yeah, ok Julen.
