Gossip: Mourinho 'targets £92m Croatian duo', Sandro 'snubs Man Utd and Chelsea for PSG' and more
There’s a reason there are no Frenchmen on Love Island. Imagine you’ve got two lads, one from London and one from Manchester, both falling in love with the same sexy woman, and you don’t know who she’s going to pick. The love triangle twists and turns over the course of several weeks as it gets increasingly tense and emotional. Viewers start to connect with the story on a visceral human level.
Then out of nowhere Jean-Christophe from Paris swans in with his charming accent and his Giroud-esque cheekbones and his smouldering Gallic temperament and he sweeps the sexy woman off her feet. They’re making sweet love within hours. The love triangle is dead – the shell-shocked English lads had no chance.
Well, that’s what’s just happened to Alex Sandro.

Will it be Chelsea or Manchester United? That’s the question that has been asked about the Juventus left-back for the past year as both have courted him furiously.
But according to French publication Paris United, the Brazilian is set to “snub” a move to the Premier League after receiving a better offer from Paris Saint-Germain.
The Ligue 1 champions have reportedly “agreed terms” with the 27-year-old, who is poised to sign a four-year contract worth £4m a year without giving a second thought to the hearts he has broken at Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge.
Eden Hazard urged to quit Chelsea
By the way, do you remember Chelsea’s 6-3 win at Everton in 2014? Or the Blues’ 1-0 home win against the Toffees in 2015 courtesy of Willian’s 89th-minute deflected strike? Well Roberto Martinez does – and today he has finally seen an opportunity for revenge.
The Mirror reports that the former Everton, and current Belgium, manager has urged his star man Eden Hazard to “follow his dream” of quitting west London and moving to Real Madrid.
“Players need new challenges and new projects. Perhaps it’s a good time for Chelsea and for Eden to split,” smiled the Spaniard while thinking about Gareth Barry’s harsh sending off at Stamford Bridge in the 2014/15 season.
United target Perisic and Rebic
Meanwhile, Man Utd have swiftly moved on from their Alex Sandro setback by targeting two stars of Croatia’s World Cup squad. The Sun says Jose Mourinho’s side are ready to splash out £92m to bring long-time target Ivan Perisic and new target Ante Rebic to Old Trafford. That’s £48m for Perisic and £44m for Rebic, in case you’re interested.

United and Chelsea are also “fighting” to sign Lazio’s Serbian midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, who has been tracked by Mourinho for months but is now also wanted at Stamford Bridge because new manager Maurizio Sarri is a fan (Mirror).
Elsewhere, Newcastle are interested in 24-year-old Uruguay midfielder Giorgian de Arrascaeta, who is valued at £18m by his Brazilian club Cruzeiro (Sun), Manchester City are unwilling to meet Real Madrid’s £80m valuation of Croatian midfielder Mateo Kovacic (Sky Sports) and Leicester City’s Nigerian forward Ahmed Musa has been linked with a £40m to Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr (Leicester Mercury). Hopefully no one tells them the Foxes would actually bite their hands off for half that amount.
