Liverpool great turned TV pundit Graeme Souness reckons it's too early for Arsenal star Myles Lewis-Skelly to start mimicking more experienced players.

The 18-year-old was among five individual goalscorers who scored past champions Manchester City in Arsenal's 5-1 victory last weekend. Despite Lewis-Skelly's finish being superb, it was his celebration that caught everyone's eyes.

He sat down with his leg crossed and performed a yoga gesture, exactly the same as City sensation Erling Haaland does when he scores. It was likely a dig aimed towards Haaland after his comments to the Arsenal squad following their previous meeting.

It was a brave call from Lewis-Skelly, but it was certainly appreciated by Arsenal fans in the Emirates Stadium. One person who did not find it amusing, though, was Souness.

Writing in his latest column for The Daily Mail, the Scot said: "I like Arsenal's Myles Lewis-Skelly. Attitude is oozing out of him and it's why I think he's going to be a real player."

Souness added: "But I have to say, having seen that celebration, I think he needs to wind his neck in. At 18, it's a bit early to be going down the road of mimicking a player like Erling Haaland, someone who's achieved great things in our league.

"Wait until you've won a few things in our game, son. Just give it a few years. Listen and learn every day until then. Know that someone so young going down that road is not a good look."

After Arsenal were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Newcastle United, the only trophies Mikel Arteta can now win this campaign are the Premier League and the Champions League. Although both are possible, they also come with a herd of obstacles they must push through first.
