Heartbreaking tributes have poured in for a much-loved young lad who tragically died after completing a half-marathon in Glasgow.

Aaron Jordan Johnston suddenly passed away after taking part in the Glasgow Half-Marathon on Sunday, February 2.

We reported how police were called to a report of a 24-year-old man taking unwell at Glasgow Green shortly after 11am.

The young man, who is from Enniskillen in Northern Ireland, was then rushed to hospital where he sadly died a short time later.

Following his death, loads of tributes have flocked in for the young runner on social media.

Our sister title, The Impartial Reporter which is based in Nothern Ireland, reported Aaron was the 'beloved son of Niall and Joy, a beloved brother of Hayley, Adam, and Jessica, and a devoted grandson of Charlie and Louise Patterson and Shirley (the late Ivor Johnston)'.

Aaron (Image: WT Morrison Funeral Directors) The family's business, Ashwood Garden Centre in Enniskillen, posted a touching tribute to the youngster on Facebook.

It read: "We are completely heartbroken that our precious Aaron Johnston, son of Niall and Joy and brother to Hayley, Adam and Jessica died suddenly on Sunday.

"Words cannot describe what we are going through now.

"The garden centre and coffee shop will be closed until further notice."

In other tributes posted online, those who knew Aaron shared touching memories they had with him.

One person wrote: "My heartbreaks. Aaron was full of life - great cub he was."

Another said: "I'm just heartbroken for you all Niall, Joy and family.

"I have lovely fond memories of Aaron going through his school days and having great craic with the boys.

"I'm just devastated and so saddened to hear this news.

"My thoughts and prayers are with you.

"Taken far too soon."

A third person added: "So sorry for your loss.

"I remember Aaron fondly when he was in the nursery.

"A few little characters really stick with you."

A fourth person said: "Deepest sympathy to you all, such heartbreaking news."
