Greenock Parkrun welcomes more than 150 runners to Christmas Day event
MORE than 150 festive runners got in trim for their Christmas Day dinner by starting off the big day at the Greenock Parkrun.
A total of 165 fitness fanatics gathered on Wednesday morning to complete the five kilometre course and spread some festive cheer as runners donned Santa hats and festive outfits.
Shaun Fitch led the way finishing in an astonishing 16 minutes and four seconds, whilst Olivia Lyne was the first female to cross the line three and a half minutes later.
Twenty-six of the runners taking part recorded personal bests.
The festive dash saw five runners hit major parkrun milestones, with Sarah Wood, Greg Richardson, Ryan McCluckie and Andrew Searil completing their 25th event, and Noel Slevin ticking off his 50th run.
Six more chose Christmas Day for their very first parkrun event - Hannah McGeehan, Rosa Currie, Charlotte Baumann, Katie Henderson, Ashleigh Galbreath and Annette Thomson.
