Despite a challenging first half, the Greenock men eventually found their rhythm in the second half, when then clicked into gear and played some fantastic rugby.
Unfortunately, it ultimately wasn’t enough to overcome a strong Glasgow University/Hillhead and Jordanhill side who scooped up maximum points.
Tries from Declan Bolster and Sean Robinson saw the Fort Matilda side get points on the board during the clash, but it wasn't enough to register any points in the league standings.
Stuart Adams had his eye on point, kicking between the posts from a penalty and converting one of the tries scored.
Veteran Jason Smith won the hearts and minds of those in the squad and wider club after stepping up to support the team when they were down to the bear bones.
Player of the Match was scooped up by Bryan Reddy, who was immense on his return to action from injury.
Wanderers now gear up to welcome bottom of the pile Lanarkshire to Fort Matilda where they will look to extend the gap between themselves and the bottom two.
