GREENOCK Wanderers ladies teams are set to compete on the big stage this year in both the National Shield and Plate competitions.

The first XV will battle it out in the National Shield competition, with the hope of bringing their season-long league momentum to the national stage.

They'll head into the tournament with a focus on building on their impressive performances this year and establishing themselves in the latter stages of the competition.

The feeling amongst the squad is that the team is aiming to advance through the group stages and make a deep run in the tournament.

And with fixtures at home to Inverness Craig Dunain and Strathmore, they'll be looking to make home advantage count either side of a trip to Highland RFC in Inverness.

The tournament will act as a good gauge as to how far the side have come in recent years, highlighting their strength in depth across the section.

Elsewhere the second team will also go toe to toe against sides from across the country in the National Plate.

They'll have to do it the hard way, playing away from home in all but one of their five fixtures.

They'll face Glasgow side Cartha Queen's Park, Annan, Lismore and Dumfries Saints either side of a clash against Perthshire on February 16.

This tournament offers a chance for the team to demonstrate the strength in depth within the Wanderers’ ranks, highlighting the progress of players across the board.

Both squads are eagerly anticipating the fixtures, with hopes high for strong showings in their respective competitions.

Supporters can look forward to thrilling matches as the club's ladies take their game to the next level.
