Brendan Rodgers insists he hasn't given up hope of keeping Scotland star Greg Taylor at Celtic.

The Hoops have teed up Kieran Tierney on a pre-contract and the Tartan Army favourite will return to his boyhood club in the summer. But the Scottish champions have yet to strike an agreement with Taylor, who will become a free agent at the end of the season. Taylor, 27, has been a mainstay since replacing KT at Parkhead in 2019 but the left-back has options across Europe, with Croatians Dinamo Zagreb leading the chase for his signature.

Rodgers remains adamant he can convince the Treble-winner to commit his long-term future to Celtic and says Taylor can still have a huge role to play. He said: "I still hope to convince Greg to be here. (Kieran returning) is without doubt an issue.

"Greg has been a starter here for virtually six years. He's always had a challenge that he has overcome from other players coming in. He knows Kieran well but there still can be room for two of them here. You are playing upwards of 50 games a season and you can't play one player in all of those.

"To have two players of that quality here would be brilliant for the club, team and changing-room. That's what Greg has to think about. I don't see it as a problem because I know he will play in a lot of big games. He has to decide that for himself."
