Hamilton Accies Women look for 'statement' win over title rivals Kilmarnock
Hamilton Accies Women boss Robert Watson denies his side would have a hand on the SWPL2 title with a win over Kilmarnock on Sunday.
But Watson did concede it would be a ‘statement’ win, should Accies move eight points clear of second-placed Killie at New Douglas Park on Sunday, and with a game in hand.
Watson said: “I wouldn’t say it’s a hand on the title, but it would be a pretty big statement of where we are.

“We’re going into quite a difficult period of games, going up to Aberdeen in the cup, followed by Boroughmuir and Gartcairn immediately after that, and there’s Ayr United in there as well.
“It’s a busy four weeks, but we’re taking it one game at a time. If we keep winning there’s nothing anyone else can do about it.”
Accies thumped Livingston 5-1 on Sunday, with an own-goal by Livi keeper Rachel Pirie added to by doubles from Chloe Muir and Josi Giard, with Mia McGranaghan making her debut.
Watson said: “Chloe coming back in her first startand getting a double inside 30 minutes is exactly what you want. Josi continues to score or assist. Her output for the season has been excellent, and she doesn’t really let up.
“I’m really pleased with the first-half performance, but if we’re honest with ourselves we didn’t play particularly well in the second half, and we need to work on that”
