Hamza Igamane targets 'big club in Europe' transfer as Rangers striker sets out his career dream
In-form Hamza Igamane has admitted it's his dream to play for for "a big club in Europe" as he opened up on his future goals.
The Moroccan has seen off Cyriel Dessers and Danilo to become Philippe Clement 's first-choice striker at Ibrox - with the 22-year-old netting 11 goals since his summer arrival from AS FAR including a hat-trick in last Sunday's showdown with Hibs. The scintillating form of the frontman has earned him instant hero status with Rangers support and reports south of the border claim that Everton, West Ham, Newcastle United, Bournemouth, Brentford and Fulham have shown an interest in the prospect who arrived for £1.7million last summer.
Amid his upturn in form Igamane was quizzed on his potential next steps. He responded: "Like any Moroccan player, my dream is to wear the jersey of the Moroccan national team. I also want to help my team as much as possible and, eventually, play for a big club in Europe."
It took a while for Clement to give Igamane his run in the team, and he has opened up on his early struggles at the club telling Moroccan outlet Le 360 Sport: "The beginning was difficult, especially since I arrived injured. Seeing my teammates training while I had to work alone in the gym was a bit difficult, especially since I was out of my comfort zone. But I overcame it with determination. For the language, at the beginning, the club provided me with a translator, and over time, I adapted.
"The Scottish Premiership is very physical, an aspect that I find close to that of the Moroccan championship, and that's what I like. I had to and was able to get used to it quickly."
After finding top gear for the Light Blues, he was asked about his first hat-trick for his new side: "It was a very special game. Scoring a hat-trick for Rangers is a huge source of pride for me. It shows that hard work always pays off, and I hope to continue this momentum and help my team in the future."
