Manchetser United defender Harry Maguire had to be held back when confronting Kai Havertz, having some choice words for the Arsenal attacker during a flashpoint of Sunday's FA Cup tie.

The two Premier League giants went to battle in the FA Cup third round, with Bruno Fernandes striking after the break to hand Ruben Amorim's side into the lead.

However United's effort would be undone when Diogo Dalot was sent off with a second yellow card. From the resulting free-kick, Gabriel Magalhaes levelled with a half-volley.

And the madness did not stop there as Arsenal were then awarded a spot-kick by referee Andy Madley. He made the decision after Havertz fell to the ground upon appearing to collide with Maguire's arm, and tensions would soon boil over.

Maguire was not pleased at all, and replays showed him to mouth a three-word comment at the man he was judged to have fouled: "You cheating s***house."

The defender was then in the thick of the melee that followed, jostling and arguing with the opposition, picking up a yellow card as a result. Manuel Ugarte was too, appearing to move his head towards Havertz in the crowded 18-yard box, though with no VAR the incident could not be reviewed.

Like Maguire, opposition centre back Gabriel was also shown the yellow card. And ultimately the penalty came to very little for Arsenal, prompting wild celebrations for the 8,000 away supporters, as Altay Bayindir got down to his left to palm away Martin Odegaard's attempt from 12 yards.

The tie ended 1-1 after the regulation 90 minutes, needing extra-time to settle the result.
