Hay St Mary’s suffer heavy defeat in return to Forest Road
HAY ST Mary’s were beaten 8-0 by high-flying Ffostrasol Wanderers in the MMP with Norman Lloyd Central Wales (South).
The visitors broke the deadlock in the fifth minute when Tomos Rogers converted Callum Shirt's low cross.
Scoring his second of two quick goals Shirt doubled the Wanderers’ lead 12 minutes later from a free-kick just outside the penalty area.
Hay St Mary's manager Warren knew that his team had a tough assignment on their hands following five defeats in their last six matches in all competitions.
The Ceredigion outfit had to wait six minutes after the break to increase their advantage when they broke down the right flank and Cian Edwards' subsequent low cross was converted at the near post by Shirt.
A fourth goal arrived in the 59th minute when a Rogers cross from the left was not cleared and Edwards squeezed the ball inside the far post.
Dafydd Phillips was played through on goal in the 74th minute to calmly slide the ball past Saints custodian Tom Lewis before Tam Emmett headed a corner into his own net five minutes later.
The Wanderers completed the scoring with two goals in as many minutes before the final whistle.
Phillips managed to squeeze the ball past Lewis from a tight angle in the 82nd minute before the visitors broke down the left following the restart and Shirt was on hand to convert the subsequent low cross from close-range to maintain his team's hopes of end of season honours.
