Henry Cejudo laughs at Chael Sonnen 'gaslighting' Colby Covington after UFC on ESPN 63
Henry Cejudo couldn't help but laugh at Chael Sonnen's speech to Colby Covington after UFC on ESPN 63.
Sonnen cornered Covington (17-5 MMA, 12-5 UFC) in his doctor stoppage TKO loss to Joaquin Buckley earlier this month in Tampa, Fla. Covington suffered a cut on his right eyelid, which forced the doctor to intervene and stop the fight toward the end of Round 3.
"It was great. Everything was going great. The tide was turning," Sonnen told Covington backstage after the fight. "That does not count. I do not accept that. Not at all, man. That was a great fight and you fought really hard. You're probably looking at the bonus on that for the night. That was really quite a war you guys just did. You should be very proud of that."
Cejudo disagrees with everything Sonnen had to say to Covington.
"I want to talk about Uncle Chael man," Cejudo said on his YouTube channel. "Uncle Chael is over here gaslighting Colby Covington, thinking that Colby Covington won Fight of the Night, thinking that he's going to get the next title shot, right after he gets put out by Joaquin Buckley."
Cejudo would like to remind "The Bad Guy" that he was about to throw the towel in before the doctor made her decision to stop the fight.
"Dude, Uncle Chael can f*cking sell ice to an Eskimo ... Jesus Christ," Cejudo said. "I mean, were the tides turning? No. Did he deserve the bonus? No. That lets you know, man: Uncle Chael could sell ice to a damn Eskimo. Come on, ladies and gentlemen. Uncle Chael be hyping this dude up like you wouldn't believe. It makes me think he's sipping on that Uncle Chael Sonnen Kool-Aid thinking he's always right. But whatever it is, this to me right here is the best coaching moment.
"I've got to give it to the one and only Uncle Chael Sonnen: He wins it again for being the best damn salesman in the entire damn MMA world. But unfortunately, Colby Covington did not get that damn bonus. And Chael Sonnen, even though he was telling us it was a great fight, tides were turning – he was thinking about throwing in the towel and stopping the damn fight. I don't know what to believe with Chael, but I love him because he's going to make you feel good regardless. Is he 'The Bad Guy' or is he really the good guy?"
