ADAM HINSHELWOOD is not worried about any key players leaving York City in January.

Whilst the non-league transfer window is practically all season round, the Football League and Premier League transfer window re-opens for the month of January, leaving non-league clubs in a precarious position with higher league interest a possibility.

With York’s impressive start to the season, currently occupying top position, City boss Hinshelwood is aware that interest is likely in a number of his key players.

However, the boss isn’t too concerned about his players’ loyalty, and is open to the idea of offering improved contracts to his players in order to keep them in North Yorkshire.

“I don’t think there’s anything to worry about, it’s a sign of them doing well,” Hinshelwood told the Press.

“If they’re doing well, then there is going to be interest, that’s football and the nature of it.

“I’m sure that’s going to be happening up and down the football pyramid, and I’m sure that the interest will be there for our group of players as well.

“That’s a sign of how well they are doing.

“We’re not worried by it, but it’s an opportunity.

“We want to sit down with the owners and Macca [Tony McMahon, Director of Football] and see where we are with a few of the players and if there could potentially be new contracts if they are needed, come January.”

Whilst higher division teams will be able to make enquiries for York’s players, City can also delve into the market for new additions, should they find a player suitable.

Hinshelwood admitted that he doesn’t see any new additions likely in the next few weeks, but that could change, with plans in place to hold a strategic meeting with Matt and Julie-Anne Uggla, as well as Tony McMahon.

He added: “I don’t think so. The plan would be to sit down with Matt, Julie-Anne and Macca and go through what that looks like, in terms of we’ve got a couple of loans coming [to an end].

“If there are any potential areas that we can strengthen in, the plan would be to, in the New Year, to sit down with them and see where we are with everything.

“At this stage, I can’t see too much happening, obviously you don’t know what other clubs are thinking with the players doing so well and I’m sure that there will be some interest.

“We’re not a club that are looking to immediately sell our players, especially with our main players in the squad.”
