History-making golf club chair hands over cheque to Wales Air Ambulance
A cheque for £1,100 has been handed over to the Wales Air Ambulance by a history-making club captain.
Celia Bartlett was made the first female captain of Newport Links Golf Club last year.
During her year as club captain she decided to raise money for the Wales Air Ambulance.
“This is the only air ambulance charity, based in and dedicated to, the people of Wales,” said Celia.
“They rely entirely on charitable donations to raise £11.2 million every year to keep the helicopters in the air and rapid response vehicles on the road.”
Throughout Celia’s year as club captain, at Newport Links she held various events, competitions and raffles to raise the money.
Celia and club members recently presented a cheque for £1100 to Mike May, the regional fundraising manager for Wales Air Ambulance.
Newport Links is now looking forward to this year, 2025, the year that the club celebrates its centenary.
There are many events being organised throughout the year to mark the occasion by this year’s captain Bernard Davies.
