Holloway considering having trialists to find right fit for squad
Ian Holloway said that he would be open to bringing players in on trial this month to ensure he gets the right fit for his Swindon Town squad.
With Swindon presently four points above the drop zone in League Two, they will be looking to get some business done during this transfer window to help them steer clear of the jaws of the National League.
When asked about what he was looking to bring in during January, Holloway said that he was dead set on finding the right fit for his group.
He said: “I have seen some clips already and have told my people what I want and what I feel we need very clearly.
“It is their job to do that for me and find at least three or four in the positions that I want that I could get for me to then look at.
“We are looking at possible trials and possible training periods so that I can see and find out more about them.
“If we don’t know anything about somebody then we will bin them off already, so the choice won’t be large but hopefully it will be effective.
“The awkward bit is that there are a few who haven’t been playing and that is a massive risk, so unless they come in and train with me then I can’t take them.
“The ones who are under contract might not know yet that they are on the list to go, but one has got a new manager, so he might not let the one go that I wanted.”
Partially due to the packed fixture list that Swindon are playing through at the moment and also his desire to find the right people, Holloway said it was unlikely any deals would happen straight away.
He said: “[Will Notts County be soon for any activity?] Totally, yes. You have got to get the right ones not just whoever fast.
“I have got to go home and watch a zillion clips of a zillion players that the people I have known for years that they can do this position for me and they are available.
“I have got to sieve all the way through them because we cannot make a mistake.
“I am not going to bring someone in who is not as good as the ones I already have, I will keep working with them if they keep doing what they are doing for me.”
