Holloway not ready to 'do a jig' despite improving Town form
Ian Holloway said that he is still not ready to start celebrating even after Swindon Town continued their strong form in League Two.
The late turnaround against Tranmere Rovers saw Swindon win three consecutive league games for the first time since September 2022 and made it five wins out of six at The Nigel Eady County Ground.
This form has helped to lift Swindon to 16th place in League Two but Holloway is not ready to start patting everyone on the back for a job well done.
He said: “It was a fantastic evening. Did it look like it was going to be like that? Probably not for a long period but the belief that we are growing in that dressing room is coming.
“I am absolutely delighted with the professionalism of how they took on the information and how whoever comes off doesn’t moan and whoever goes on is ready to go and do it.
“That is the start of something really good for me and well done to everybody.
“But I am not going to celebrate until I have got something to celebrate about, so you can do all of that nonsense and that is fantastic, but I will only be doing a jig for you when we have got what I believe we are capable of.”
6,180 fans were in attendance as Swindon defeated Tranmere, the ninth time in 14 home games in which Town have not had above 7,000 fans at The Nigel Eady County Ground this season, having had an average home attendance of more than 8,000 in each of the last three campaigns.
With the form improving, Holloway said that he would like to see some of those fans start to come back and witness what he feels is football worth paying for.
He said: “Thank you to the supporters for coming on a night like this.
“I want the other 1,500 [to come back] I found out today that we had an average of 8,500 last year and we have only got 7,000 at the minute.
“I would love the other 1,500 to come back; maybe you are struggling for money or maybe you weren’t happy but I would love you to come back and feel what is happening.
“I think the lads would appreciate that and I think the club need to feel that we are moving forward.
“That is as proud as I have ever been about anybody and I would pay to watch my team right now.”
