L'HOMME PRESSE can secure victory in the Betfair Cotswold Chase (GBB Race) (2.25pm) at Cheltenham on Saturday afternoon.

Venetia Williams’ 10-year-old can return to winning ways in the Grade Two feature on Cheltenham Festival Trials Day at Prestbury Park. L’Homme Presse has had his best days at Cheltenham in the past, having won twice as a novice – in the Grade Two Dipper Novices’ Chase and in the Grade One Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase over an extended three miles on the old course at the Cheltenham Festival in 2022. And although he has only won twice in seven runs since that success he still remains fairly lightly-raced for a 10-year-old due to some fitness issues.

Having won the Fleur De Lys Chase at Lingfield and finished second in the Grade One Betfair Ascot Chase at the start of last year, he finished fourth to Galopin Des Champs in the Boodles Cheltenham Gold Cup – another decent effort at Prestbury Park. He is likely to be going for Gold again having run a fine race on his first start since last year’s crack when third – admittedly at a fair distance behind winner Banbridge and runner-up Il Est Francais – in the King George VI Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day. He is sure to come on for that return to action and this slight step up in trip and also going left-handed back at a track he clearly enjoys should see L’Homme Presse make a return to the winner’s enclosure.

He also gets weight from the likes from Irish raider Gentlemansgame and Paul Nicholls' Stage Star. Both of those should go well along with another course and distance winner, the Nicky Henderson-trained Chantry House. But they should still have to play second fiddle to L’Homme Presse. Victory will see him have another crack at the Gold Cup in March, but whether he can reverse form with Mullins’ dual stat Galopin Des Champs then looks highly unlikely. But he should at least book his ticket to try with victory.

CONSTITUTION HILL can win the Grade Two Unibet Hurdle (Registered As The International Hurdle) (GBB Race) (3pm) en route to his bid to regain his Champion Hurdle crown at the Festival in March. Nicky Henderson’s eight-year-old star proved he is over the issues which forced him to miss the defence of his Champion Hurdle crown last March and saw him off the track for a year when returning to action with a superb victory in the Ladbrokes Christmas Hurdle at Kempton on Boxing Day. His rivals back at Cheltenham are not in the league of a horse who remains unbeaten in nine starts Under Rules and who has won eight Grade Ones in a row. He can saunter to victory again and be a warm order to regain his Champion crown at the Festival.

CRAMBO can win the Grade Two Cleeve Hurdle (GBB Race) (3.35pm) and book his own ticket to a crack at the Stayers’ Hurdle in March. Fergal O’Brien’s eight-year-old could only finish eighth to Teahupoo in last year’s Stayers’ Hurdle before coming home ninth behind the reopposing Strong Leader in the Liverpool Hurdle at the Randox Grand National Festival at Aintree Racecourse last spring. But he was impressive on his seasonal return when landing a second successive victory in the Grade One Long Walk Hurdle at Ascot just before Christmas. Crambo can confirm the form of that Ascot success with Strong Leader (last of 10) and get the better of Paul Nicholls’ course and distance scorer Monmiral to triumph. Whether he can get the better of Teahupoo in the Stayers’ Hurdle is doubtful but he can at least give himself the chance with another victory at Prestbury Park.

POTTERS CHARM can maintain his unbeaten run in the Grade Two Ais Novices’ Hurdle (Registered As The Classic Novices’ Hurdle) (GBB Race) (4.10pm) and book his ticket to the Cheltenham Festival. Nigel Twiston-Davies’ progressive young hurdler has won all four starts over obstacles so far this season and impressed dropping back in trip to 2m1f to land a first Grade One win in the William Hill Formby Novices’ Hurdle at Aintree on Boxing Day. He showed he clearly has pace as well as stamina and he can step back up in trip to 2m4f on Saturday to land the five-timer – and with it provide promise of even more at the spring Festivals.

Nicholls’ French import SAUVIGNON can win the Grade Two JCB Triumph Trial Juvenile Hurdle (Registered As The Finesse) (GBB Race) (1.15pm). On his efforts in his homeland when trained by Mathieu Pitart he has the beating of the unbeaten favourite East India Dock, from the James Owen stable. Sauvignon makes his British debut for Nicholls and he looks like he can make it a winning one.

BILLYTHEREALBIGRED can take the opener on Trials Day, the Timeform Novices’ Handicap Chase (GBB Race) (12.40pm). The five-year-old, from the Cheshire stable of Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero, has won four of his five starts since switching from trainer Evan Williams in March last year. Billytherealbigred won twice over hurdles last season and has taken to chasing just as well, scoring at Bangor and Exeter. He can make it three from three over the bigger obstacles and get the better of stable-mate Jagwar and the Alan King-trained Masaccio.

IMPERIAL SAINT was also a winner at Aintree on Boxing Day and he can follow up in the Betfair Exchange Handicap Chase (Premier Handicap) (GBB Race) (1.50pm). The Philip Hobbs and Jonson White-trained seven-year-old made it three wins at the famous Liverpool track this season with his only defeat coming at Newbury last month. His latest success at Aintree was over this 2m4f and he can show he can do it away from Merseyside by beating course and distance winner, the Venetia Williams-trained Gemirande and Nicholls’ Ginny’s Destiny.

At Doncaster FAMOUS BRIDGE can win the Virgin Bet Great Yorkshire Handicap Chase (Premier Handicap) (GBB Race) (3.15pm). Nicky Richards’ nine-year-old was third at Haydock Park in the Tommy Whittle Chase just before Christmas and has run some fine races in defeat since his last win in the same contest at Haydock in December 2023. He can get his head back in front on Town Moor.

Joe Tizzard’s WESTERN KNIGHT can win the Grade Two Pertemps Network River Don Novices’ Hurdle (GBB Race) (2.05pm). While others who can score on Town Moor are WYENOT can win the Grade Two Virgin Bet Yorkshire Rose Mares’ Hurdle (GBB Race) (2.40pm); the Greenall and Guerriero-trained HOMME PUBLIC in the Play At The Races StableDuel Handicap Hurdle (GBB Race) (3.50pm); and NELLS SON – from the Nicky Richards’ stable – in the Virgin Bet Every Saturday Money Back Handicap Chase (GBB Race) (1.30pm).

At Uttoxeter Martin Keighley’s REDBRIDGE RAMBLER can win the Uttoxeter Racecourse Caravan And Motorhome Site Handicap Chase (3.07pm). While the Kerry Lee-trained course and distance winner NEW FOUND FAME can score again in the Duncan Goodfellow – Come On Horse Handicap Hurdle (2.32pm); and WAL BUCK'S – from dual Grand National winner Lucinda Russell’s Kinross stable – can also land the 15:42 Midlands Grand National Saturday 15th March Novices’ Handicap Chase (GBB Race) (3.42pm).
