Huddersfield Giants facing early injury crisis with Salford Red Devils raid discussed
Huddersfield Giants are facing an injury crisis before the Super League season has even started. The Giants are currently facing the prospect of being without six senior players for their season opener with Warrington Wolves.
That includes their halfback pairing of Adam Clune and Tui Lolohea, who are both major doubts due to thigh injuries picked up while they were away from the club. Hooker Zac Woolford is also facing a race against time to be fit due to an ankle injury, though captain Leroy Cudjoe should be fit despite suffering a freak finger injury in the closing minutes of training during the club's warm-weather training camp in Malaga.
Two players who will definitely be out are new recruit Taane Milne, who is expected to miss at least two rounds of action as he returns to Australia for the birth of his child. And George King is a long-term absentee after a freak injury days after reporting to duty.

It has given head coach Luke Robinson plenty of early headaches to contend with, but has praised the way his squad has handled it.
"In some ways, resilience has been a word banded around but particularly with our group, they've been really resilient and there's been a lot of obstacles.
"But it has been difficult, they are two starting halves. Then you couple that up with the camp. We had a great camp and in the last five minutes while we were playing touch rugby, Leroy's bone came out of his finger.
"Zac Woolford freakishly stepped on someone's foot, that's six to eight weeks. We're hoping round one or round two.
"Taane, he's been coming back from a knee clearout so he needed some work, but when he originally signed he told me about his wife being pregnant. We're a family club and family comes first, we want him to experience the birth of his child, so we're not really expecting him for the first three or four weeks, two if we're lucky.
Then we have the usual pre-season niggles, we have our first friendly tomorrow and I'd have liked to put a few more out there but those that aren't are the ones we're looking after and wrapping in cotton wool."
He added: "It's not ideal as this is a time when you can get your combinations together when the games aren't on as you have the opportunity of time. We've had to manufacture that in other ways, including the pivotal players in the video sessions."
Naturally, that would suggest the Giants could be on the lookout for recruits and with Salford currently being forced to sell players, it is an inevitable topic for Robinson to discuss.
"We do have quota spots and there's obviously some really good players at Salford that you'd like to bring in," he said. "Whether it's something we have the scope to do, that's something we'll need to look at, whether that's Salford or from somewhere else."
