Huddersfield Town boss' 'best side' claim ahead of Blackpool clash offers extra spice
Huddersfield Town head coach Michael Duff has described Blackpool as the best team to have come to the John Smith’s Stadium “by a mile” so far this season ahead of their reverse encounter.
The Seasiders were 2-0 winners against the Terriers back in September, and now host Town at Bloomfield Road tomorrow afternoon in a 12.30pm kick-off.
Steve Bruce’s side sit 16th in the League One table, on 30 points from 24 matches played. The Tangerines are winless in their last five league matches, and are targeting just a third home win in the division this term.

Town head to Bloomfield Road looking to extend a 15-match unbeaten run in the league, with Duff’s side fourth in the division, on 47 points after 24 games, having registered a 1-0 win at second-placed Wycombe Wanderers last time out.
Duff is fully aware of the threat that the Seasiders could pose his side tomorrow afternoon, saying at yesterday's press conference: “I think they were the best team that have been here by a mile. Other than Birmingham away, they are the best team that we’ve played.
“I think we were poor on the day, but I don’t think you can put that performance down to us just being poor, I thought they were excellent.
“I thought they did what they needed to do really well, and if you break it down into actual chances, I think it was pretty close, but the feel of the game, it felt like we got outplayed essentially.
“I probably picked the wrong team, I probably set the team up wrong, so I took a bit of ownership in terms of that, but it was in a difficult moment. I’d like to think if we started a game like we started that one, we’d be able to have a few more resolutions now, and be able to solve the problems a little bit better.
“I think they’ll see a different version of us. They’ve been pretty similar in terms of their setup. The players have been the same, they’ll look to bring a few more in, I think it’s Steve’s first window, so he’ll look to tweak a few things.
“He knows his way around a football pitch, a lot more experience than me, and it felt a little bit like that when we played them the last time, I was like ‘yeah, I’ve just been done there properly’.
“Hopefully we’re better, I’m better, the players are in a better place, and we are a stronger outfit than what we were. The players will know, it won’t be a surprise if they turn up and are good on the day, because we’ll be expecting the best version of them, which I think we saw.”
Town head into tomorrow's clash having bolstered their frontline over the past week, with Joe Taylor and Dion Charles having joined the club from Luton Town and Bolton Wanderers respectively. However, Duff warned that “expectation” needed to be managed with the pair’s arrival.
Reflecting on his side’s transfer business so far this window, the head coach said: “We had a pretty short shortlist, and if I’m being brutally honest, I think we’ve got the top three that we wanted in.
“That doesn’t happen very often, and to get it done so quickly as well, it’s really pleasing.
“We’ve got to be careful. Hopefully there’s a buoyancy now, it puts a spring in everyone’s step, and you’ve just got to manage the expectation with it. It doesn’t [mean] we’ve all of a sudden become world beaters, we’re just adding quality into what we think is a half-decent team.”
