Huddersfield Town have been dealt a double blow on the injury front with Ruben Roosken and Rhys Healey both facing extended spells on the sidelines.

Terriers’ boss Michael Duff confirmed at a press conference this afternoon that the pair picked up significant setbacks in Saturday’s 3-2 defeat at Northampton Town.

Duff said that Roosken suffered a hyperextended knee in a challenge, while Healey has sustained cartilage damage after landing awkwardly.

While an estimate timescale for Roosken’s return is still to be confirmed, Duff revealed that Healey’s injury is likely to be season ending.

“It’s not been a great week on the injury front,” the head coach said. “Ruben Roosken’s got a whack in the first half, we took him off at half-time, he’s had a scan and it doesn’t look great.

“He’s due to see a surgeon on Monday or Tuesday next week, so they’ve seen the scans that don’t look good, but until the surgeon gets actual physical hands on him, we won’t know, but he won’t be back any time soon.

“Rhys Healey landed awkwardly, he is booked in for surgery next week, and we probably won’t see Rhys again this season. I’m not sure what someone’s done, but it’s been difficult with injuries, and it’s just added to it.

“We need to look after them. Rhys has had a difficult time from an injury point of view, but we need to make sure we look after him from a human being point of view. He can still have an impact on the team, in terms of he’s going to be in every day and working around the place, but we need to support him properly.

“Ruben, we don’t know the timescale of it yet, because we need an expert opinion. It’s been imaged, it doesn’t look great on an image, but until a specialist sees him, we won’t know that length of time.”

Elsewhere on the injury front, Duff said that Tom Lees and Josh Koroma are both back available for Saturday's clash at home to Reading, with the pair having missed last weekend’s defeat.

“Leesy will be fine. He’ll have to play with a mask, which might do him a favour,” the head coach joked.

“He’s a brave lad, and the way they build them now and they mould them to your face, they look worse than what they are. He’s trained in it today and he’s quite comfortable, so he’ll be available for selection.

“Where we’re at injury wise, we couldn’t take a risk with Josh. He felt just a slight tightness in his quad, but the amount of injuries that we’ve got, putting someone on who’s maybe at risk, he’ll probably end up tearing it, so we didn’t want that. He’ll be available for selection at the weekend.”

Duff also confirmed that David Kasumu has returned to full training, while Nigel Lonwijk is set to remain sidelined for “at least a couple of weeks” with his hamstring injury.
