Huddersfield Town winger Sorba Thomas is in talks over a move to Championship strugglers Hull City. Our sister title Hull Live understands the Tigers have agreed a transfer fee with the Terriers for the Welsh international, who is currently on loan in Ligue 1 with Nantes.

However, a potential stumbling block in the deal is that the French club remain determined to keep hold of him with. It is thought Thomas has a good relationship with boss Antoine Kombouaré.

As per the terms of the loan agreement that saw Thomas move to the Stade de la Beaujoire last year, the Terriers are unable to recall the Wales international at this stage. Thomas played 66 minutes and claimed two assists in an impressive performance against Monaco earlier this month. He then played a further 19 minutes against Saint Etienne last Sunday. The 25-year-old has made 18 appearances across all competitions for Nantes this season.

But Hull Live understands Thomas, who has been on Town's books since 2021, is keen to return to Yorkshire, where he has a young family, and join the Tigers. City were given permission to speak to the wide man earlier this month and remain confident of securing his services before the transfer window closes at 11pm on February 3.

Speaking to BBC Radio Humberside, City head coach Ruben Selles said: "Sorba’s doing a really good job at Nantes. He knows the league, he knows the competition, he’s been there before, very successful. He is a type of player that would be very welcome to our squad.”

It has been a busy window so far for the Tigers, with Selles signing Matt Crooks, Joe Gelhardt, Nordin Amrabat and Kyle Joseph.
