Swansea City have made a statement on Matt Grimes, confirming they have accepted a transfer bid from a Championship club for him.

Coventry City are understood to have had a third bid accepted for the midfielder. The Sky Blues had two initial offers for the Swans' skipper rejected by the South Wales club but now appear to have secured the services of the 29-year-old.

The Swans’ statement read: “Swansea City has accepted a bid from a Championship club for the transfer of Matt Grimes.

“Following discussions, Matt Grimes expressed his desire to move on, and the club has respected his wishes.”

It’s understood there is still some paperwork to be ironed out before the transfer can be rubber stamped, but the move is now expected to go through within the next few days.

Whether it will be completed in time for him to play for the Sky Blues this weekend, where by coincidence they play Swansea at the Swansea.com Stadium, remains to be seen.
