'It’s huge numbers' - Liverpool sent Mohamed Salah contract warning amid Al-Hilal transfer links
Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool future continues to be a hot topic of conversation. The forward's deal expires at the end of the season, and he is yet to put pen to paper on an extension.
The ECHO first reported back in September that Salah would like to sign a new contract with Liverpool. Then, speaking to a handful of journalists including the ECHO after his side’s 3-2 win over Southampton in November, Salah said he was 'more out than in' at the club as he also revealed he was 'disappointed' not to have received a formal approach from the club over a new deal.
Then, speaking to Sky Sports about his future at the start of the year, Salah admitted this could be his last season at Anfield. He said: "So far? Yes. Into the last six months, there is no progress there, we're far away from any progress, so we just need to wait and see."

The 32-year-old has been in exceptional form so far this season, scoring 22 times and claiming 17 assists in all competitions. His goals and assists have helped the Reds to the top of the Premier League table and top of the Champions League.
But with Salah’s Liverpool future still uncertain, the forward has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia. Back in September 2013, Liverpool rejected a £150m offer for the Egypt international from Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad.
The bid was for in excess of £100m, with add-ons taking it up to £150m. And, in recent weeks, there have been claims that Al-Hilal have offered Salah a lucrative £65million two-year contract as he is set to become a free agent in the summer.
And former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness has claimed Liverpool will not want to match the reported offer made by Al-Hilal and believes it is now a question of what Salah wants to do on the pitch.
“I don’t think Liverpool will want to match the Saudi offer, given the age of Salah," he told Football Insider's Insider Track podcast. “Al-Hilal have come out of the pack, and it’s huge numbers.
“It won’t just be the football numbers, it’s also the status he would have in Saudi. But I don’t think this will be a question of money – because there’s only one winner in that case.
“It’s a question of what he wants to do on the pitch. Does he want to get more records at Liverpool? It’ll come down to what he wants football-wise.”
