Ruben Selles hasn't ruled out adding further players to his Hull City squad before Monday night's 11pm deadline after he watched his team lose 2-1 at home to fellow strugglers Stoke City. It was a hammer blow for the Tigers in their bid to move away from the drop zone as they failed to build on on last weekend's win at Sheffield United.

City roared into a sixth-minute lead when Eliot Matazo turned in from a Sean McLoughlin knockback. Selles' side had more than enough chances to increase that lead, but their profligacy was punished when Ali Al-Hamadi crashed in just before the break, and then Andrew Moran spun to fire home the winner with 16 minutes left, to give the MKM Stadium a familiar sinking feeling.

Though Selles' men tried to force a way back into it in the closing stages, Viktor Johansson kept them at bay, and the hosts were left to reflect on a second straight home defeat, one which left them perched just one place above the drop zone with 16 games of the season to go, and just a couple of days left in the transfer window.

Already seven players have arrived at the MKM Stadium in the January window, but Selles hasn't ruled out a late addition or two, including on the left side of defence, which has been a problem area all season.

Prime target Charlie Taylor is unlikely to arrive at the club, and despite that setback, the Tigers head coach hasn't ruled out adding to that area to provide competition for Matty Jacob and Sean McLoughlin.

"I think we did almost everything we can in this window, and the team is stronger than it was," he told Hull Live. "It's always going to be a final thing and final player, especially in the last 48 hours, that can be an opportunity for the club, and we can go for it; that's what I see.

"I think we have more than enough with Sean (McLoughlin) and Matty (Jacob) there, but obviously, it's not a position that we completely closed."

As for outgoings, City expect Chris Bedia to join Swiss side Young Boys while Xavier Simons and Brandon Fleming are also expected to move on.

"The club will communicate those things," the Spaniard said when addressing possible outgoings. "We are working with the players that are not playing minutes right now to offer them the opportunity to go and play minutes at other clubs. With Chris (Bedia), you will have news pretty soon, and then we'll see with the others."
