Hull City’s Championship fixture list will have another change later in the season as the East Yorkshire club heads towards their Championship run-in.

The Tigers’ crunch MKM Stadium meeting with relegation rivals Plymouth Argyle scheduled for March 1 will now not take place after the Pilgrims secured the shock of the FA Cup fourth round by beating Liverpool.

Argyle’s famous 1-0 win over Arne Slot’s Reds at Home Park courtesy of Ryan Hardie's second half penalty was enough to dump the Premier League leaders out of the world’s oldest cup competition, giving new head coach Miron Muslic a big victory.

The Devon-based club, along with Cardiff City, are both in the hat for Monday night’s draw, which is scheduled to happen during the One Show around 7:10pm.

It’s the second Tigers game in quick succession that has been moved because of their opponent’s involvement in the FA Cup. City’s exit against Doncaster Rovers in round three, coupled with Cardiff City’s win at Sheffield United, gave Ruben Selles’ men this weekend off.

That game in South Wales will now take take place later this month on February 26. No date for the Argyle game has been set at this stage, but the packed calendar suggests it will not be until a midweek in April, with the international window in the second half of March presenting a challenge, and so too, the pivotal Easter weekend.

Selles’ men will return to action after their 10-day break on Wednesday night when they travel to face promotion-chasing Burnley, who enjoyed their own FA Cup success over the weekend, winning 1-0 at the Premier League’s bottom side Southampton, keeping another clean sheet in the process - their tenth in a row.

Scott Parker’s Premier League hopefuls have the best defence in any of the top two divisions in Europe’s top five leagues, just nine in their 31 league games and 22 overall.
