Academy winger Will Jarvis has left Hull City to complete a permanent switch to Notts County in the second major exit of the January transfer window.

York-born Jarvis, 22, came through the ranks at City but failed to make a significant impact on the first team and leaves with only nine career Championship appearances to his name this season, his last coming off the bench at Oxford United on November 5.

Jarvis spent last season on loan in Ireland with Shelbourne and became a firm favourite at Tolka Park, working under former Newcastle United winger Damien Duff. Jarvis was recalled by City after a summer of struggles in the transfer market prior to the arrivals of Liam Millar and Mohamed Belloumi, with the hope of playing a more prominent role in the first team. While that was the hope, he had his application criticised by former head coach Tim Walter.

Though Belloumi and Millar are sidelined for the rest of the season with ACL injuries, Jarvis has failed to wrestle his way back into the fold under new boss Ruben Selles and will now make the switch to the Magpies, who are chasing promotion to League One under Stuart Maynard and sit sixth, two points off the top two in League One.

Jarvis becomes the second first team departure in the early days of the window, following on from Marvin Mehlem who left to join German Bundesliga.2 side Paderborn on loan with a view to a permanent move in the summer.

Those two exits frees up much-needed space in City's squad, which will allow them to add to Ruben Selles' options, with Matt Crooks expected to be the first of at least four new arrivals, closely followed by a winger and striker, while the Tigers are also hoping to add to their defensive ranks.
