Hull City handed relegation odds boost ahead of crunch Stoke City clash
Hull City's thumping 3-0 win at Sheffield United on Friday night not only boosted their hopes of securing Championship survival with 17 games to go, it also raised confidence amongst the bookmakers.
The Tigers produced one of the eye-catching results of the season by inflicting just a second home defeat on the Blades, who had only conceded five goals at Bramall Lane before Ruben Selles' men ran riot in the Steel City.
City now turn their attention to a huge home meeting with Stoke City at the MKM Stadium on Saturday, as the Tigers look to try and correct their awful home form which has seen them win just twice in front of their own supporters this season.

The Potters are a place below City, but one of three clubs sitting on 29 points from 29 games along with Portsmouth. Pompey missed the chance to take advantage of their game in hand on Tuesday night, seeing their seven-game unbeaten home record at Fratton Park ended by Millwall.
That result leaves City sitting 19th in the Championship, two points above the drop zone, but that result at Bramall Lane has encouraged the bookies, who believe the Tigers will guide themselves to safety.
Plymouth Argyle - 1/33 from 1/33 (97.1 per cent from 97.1 per cent)
Portsmouth - 5/4 from 11/8 (44.4 per cent from 42.1 per cent)

Derby County - 13/8 from 100/30 (38.1 per cent from 23.1 per cent)
Stoke City - 2/1 from 3/1 (33.3 per cent from 25 per cent)
Cardiff City - 7/2 from 11/4 (22.2 per cent from 26.7 per cent)

Hull City - 5/1 from 2/1 (16.7 per cent from 33.3 per cent)
“Hull City have been the big movers in the market after their impressive, shock victory over promotion hopefuls Sheffield United on Friday night," Betfred's Robert Ford told Hull Live. "Before the game, they had a 33.3 per cent probability of relegation, but after their performance at Bramall Lane, that probability has halved to 16.7 per cent with their odds drifting to 5/1 from 2/1. They’ve shown signs of improvement under Rubén Sellés, but with difficult trips away to Burnley and Sunderland still to come in their next three league games, positive results will be needed to prevent those odds being cut.
“After a 1-0 defeat at home to Millwall, Luton Town have moved into 5/4 from 2/1 and now have a 44.4 per cent probability of facing back-to-back relegations. Derby County and Stoke City also saw their odds suffer over the weekend and currently have a 38.1 per cent and 33.3 per cent chance, respectively, of playing in League One next season.
“Plymouth look nailed on for relegation at 33/1, whilst 21st-placed Portsmouth have seen their probability increase slightly from 42.1 per cent (11/8) to 44.4 per cent (5/4) after their 1-0 home defeat to Millwall.”
