Ruben Selles admits there will be more departures from Hull City before the transfer window closes on February 3 at 11pm, with more incomings expected.

City made their fourth signing of a busy winter window so far when Kyle Joseph completed his £2.5m move from League One side Blackpool, and he will be followed by Fenerbahce attacker Lincoln Henrique, while the Tigers are hopeful of clinching a deal to sign Monaco's 22-year-old midfielder Eliot Matazo after he passed a medical on Monday and agreed terms on a long-term contract.

Given their squad is already bloated, Selles is keen to move fringe players out, with the likes of Ryan Giles, Ryan Longman, Chris Bedia and Anthony Racioppi told they can move on, joining Marvin Mehlem and Will Jarvis in already leaving the MKM Stadium.

Another player who could move on is former Chelsea midfielder Xavier Simons, with reports linking him with a move to Swedish outfit AIK. And Selles admits the 21-year-old is likely to garner interest, given his lack of playing time at City, having been a regular under the former manager.

The emergence of Steven Alzate, coupled with the possible arrival of Matazo, means Simons' chances of playing are limited, and therefore, will be allowed to leave the club.

"Yes, that's exactly what it means (players come in means players will be leaving)." Selles bluntly told Hull Live. "Well, there are some players that know directly that we are not going to come with them, and they need to find a new club, and there are some players that, if they have a proposal, and they are maybe not going to be key players for us, they can find their way (elsewhere).

"Unfortunately, Xavi (Simons) didn't have a lot of playing time in the last part (of the season). I didn't know about that Scandinavian gossip or rumour, but I can understand that a player like him has some options like that."

Joseph's deal wasn't concluded in time to meet the tight 12pm deadline on Monday to enable him to feature against QPR on Tuesday night. But he will be in the squad at Bramall Lane on Friday night when City face Sheffield United in their latest Yorkshire derby. Selles says he hopes his ranks will be further boosted before their trip to the south of the county, though he was typically coy when it came to discussing targets in public.

"We are close to two, maybe three," he said. "They're not going to be done in time for the game (against QPR), but hopefully, some of them will be available for Sheffield United.

"As you know, I would prefer not to speak about players that are not playing for my team," Selles said when asked about the incoming Matazo, who is understood to have passed a medical and signed a four-year deal. "I will just say that I know the Monaco project and the Monaco people working there and the way that they work with their manager Adi Hütter, and any player from their system will fit and suit our system."

Given Giles' permanent exit to Middlesbrough is expected to be confirmed this week, City continue to work on bringing in a left-back. Selles concluded by saying he hoped it would be finalised soon. "Well, we are working on it, and hopefully, we can just close it soon," added the Spaniard.
