Scott Parker has warned his Burnley players to underestimate Hull City at their peril as the Clarets look to move back into the automatic promotion places.

Buoyed after dumping Premier League Southampton out of the FA Cup, Burnley will be looking to extend their impressive unbeaten run to 21 matches when they welcome the Tigers to Turf Moor tonight, kick-off 7:45pm. Three points the Clarets could see them reclaim second spot if Sheffield United slip up at home to Middlesbrough.

As for City, they dropped back into the Championship relegation zone on goal difference following Derby County's goalless draw at home to Oxford United last night. However, Ruben Selles' team have won their last three matches away from the MKM Stadium without conceding a goal.

Burnley head coach Parker told Clarets+: “All focus goes onto Wednesday, which is a big game for us. “It’s not going to be an easy game, it’s a tough team and you can see that with some of their recent results, going to Sheffield United and getting a very good result.

“They recruited very well in January, a new manager has come in and they will be an organised team with some real quality as well.

“No game is easy in this division but we’re now coming towards the back end with 15 games left. As always, we will do our work, we will be diligent and we will prepare to put a good performance in.”

The Tigers have a wretched recent record at Turf Moor, losing 10 of their last 14 away league matches against Burnley (W2 D2).

City are said to be among the clubs plotting a summer transfer raid for Doncaster Rovers defender Joseph Olowu. A Football League World report says Derby County and Reading are also interested in the centre-back.

Olowu, who has made over 130 appearances for Rovers since joining the club in 2021, started his career at Arsenal. He never made a senior appearance for the Premier League giants. Olowu also spent time on loan at Cork City and Wealdstone before moving to South Yorkshire.

The 25-year-old's current contract expires at the end of the season. He has been a key figure for Grant McCann's side as they push for automatic promotion. Olowu put in a strong performance in Monday's spirited FA Cup loss to Crystal Palace.

Goalkeeper exit

Under-21s goalkeeper Owen Foster has joined Hartlepool United on a short-term loan. He was named on the substitutes bench as the National League side were held to a 2-2 draw by Tamworth on Tuesday.

Tigers head of academy goalkeeping Chris Butt said: "We’re really pleased that Owen will be joining Hartlepool on loan and we'd like to extend our thanks to them.

"Owen has had a lot of involvement with the first team so far this season, and working alongside more senior goalkeepers day to day has no doubt been a great learning experience for him.

"It’s great that Owen will now have the opportunity to apply the things he will have picked up from this exposure & be able to demonstrate his ability in a different setting."

Foster, 21, is in the final year of his Tigers contract.
