Hull City had to settle for a point in a 1-1 draw against Norwich City at the MKM Stadium as they moved clear of the relegation zone.

City's promising start was rewarded inside the opening 15 minutes when a fine move was finished off by Matt Crooks who arrived to turn in Lewie Coyle's near post cross. Although the Canaries dominated the rest of the first half, they struggled to create anything of note against a resolute, albeit nervous, Tigers outfit.

Sadly for the hosts, that changed within moments of the restart when Josh Sargent headed in Kellen Fisher's cross at the near post via the post.

Here's how Tigers reporter Barry Cooper rated the players at the MKM Stadium on Saturday afternoon...

Ivor Pandur: Didn't have a huge amount to do in the first half, though the work he needed to do, he did well. Well beaten by the equaliser. 6/10

Sean McLoughlin: A good first period and saw plenty of action down his side of the pitch and battled away well. Will have been frustrated by the equalising goal. 6/10

John Egan: A home debut for the experienced centre-back and would have hoped for a quieter first half. Headed and kicked what he needed to. 6.5/10

Alfie Jones: Would have liked more cover from his midfield unit in what was a solid first period alongside Egan but allowed Sargent to get across him for the equaliser. 6/10

Lewie Coyle: Lovely ball in for the opening goal finished off well by Crooks. Worked hard to try and keep Sainz in check in the first half. 6.5/10

Regan Slater: Back in the side and his energy, valued so much by the manager, was important again but along with Alzate, needed more control as the first half wore on. Will feel like he could have done more to stop the cross for the equaliser. 6/10

Steven Alzate: Lovely ball to create a chance for Gelhardt before dragging a shot wide. Lost his way alongside Slater as the half wore on. Regained more of it in the second period. 6.5/10

Matt Crooks: A classic Crooks finish running into the box and timing it right to turn in at the near post but thereafter, couldn't really get hold the ball. Looked to have ran out of steam in the second period. 6.5/10

Joe Gelhardt: Bright start forcing a good save from Gunn early on and played his part in the opening goal. Like the rest of his team, stopped pushing after the opener. Battled back well in the second and fizzed a shot wide. 6.5/10

Louie Barry: A full City debut for the Aston Villa loanee and was in the thick of the action early door, and looked really bright in moments before fading as the game wore on. 6/10

Joao Pedro: Became increasingly isolated as the first half wore on and slipped deeper as the Tigers struggled to control the game, and in the much more even second period, they couldn't get him into the game. 5/10

Subs:

Mason Burstow (for Barry 58): Flashed a shot well wide shortly after coming on. 6/10

Kyle Joseph (for Pedro 70): No shortage of effort in chasing about but found it tough to get into the game in an attacking sense.. 6/10

Eliot Matazo (for Alzate 79): Made a difference with his energy and with a bit of luck at the other end, could have fashioned a chance.. 6/10

Abu Kamara (for Crooks 79): City couldn't really get the ball to him in dangerous areas in the final stages. 6/10
