Hull City's disastrous home form continued on Tuesday night as they were beaten 2-1 by QPR to leave them mired in trouble.

Two quick-fire goals halfway through the second half from Kenneth Paal and Koki Saito proved crucial, and though Joe Gelhardt scored a terrific goal on his debut late on, there was to be no stirring comeback this time.

City will be frustrated with the ease at which they gifted Rangers two goals, from nothing, and passed up another chance to build some momentum.

Here's how Tigers reporter Barry Cooper rated the players at the MKM Stadium on Tuesday evening under the lights...

Carl Rushworth: Made a fine save in the opening minutes to deny Ilias Chair. Looked bright with his feet, didn't have much to do before a fine save to deny Smyth in the second period. Could do little about the first but possibly more the second. 6/10

Sean McLoughlin: Slipped at the wrong time to allow Chair to go past him in the first couple of minutes, recovered well thereafter, will be frustrated about the first. 6/10

Alfie Jones: Really composed in the first half once again with the captain's armband in Lewie Coyle's absence. Will be furious with the manner of the two goals. Great block on the line for the first, didn't deserve that. 6/10

Fin Burns: Got lucky early on after a miscommunication with Rushworth. Booked just before half-time for a foul he probably needed to make. 6/10

Cody Drameh: Stuck to his task well in the first half and looked decent enough in the second until he went missing for the second goal. 5/10

Regan Slater: Decent in the first half, always keen to get on the ball and drive forward when he could. 6/10

Gustavo Puerta: Showed some nice touches, include one delightful flick to get Vaughan away but wasted the free-kick. 5/10

Steven Alzate: Started brightly, had City's first shot when he angled wide. Showed some good stuff again but didn't cover himself in glory for the second goal. 5/10

Joe Gelhardt: Worked hard in the first half off the right flank. Kept at it in the second and scored a wonderful goal to give City faint hope. 7/10

Harry Vaughan: Delightful run and shot almost fashioned the opener, moments after a clever run teed up Alzate to drive wide. Was really impactful in the first half but less so in the second before going off. 7/10

Joao Pedro: Couldn't get into the game early on despite him trying to get involved. One lovely spray of the ball out to Gelhardt who battled hard to win it. 5/10

Subs:

Matt Crooks (for Puerta 67): Knocked it about when he could get on the ball. Harshly penalised in stoppage time, with City pushing for an equaliser. 6/10

Mason Burstow (for Vaughan 67): He couldn't get into the game when he came on, with City toiling. 5/10

Matty Jacob (for Burns 81): Came on and added some energy. Would expect him to start on Friday after this cameo. 5/10
