Hull City rocked by huge injury blow ahead of crucial QPR and Sheffield United clashes
Hull City skipper Lewie Coyle will miss Tuesday night's crunch home meeting with in-form QPR at the MKM Stadium after suffering two big cuts to his ankle on Saturday.
Coyle was forced off in the first half of the Tigers' fine 1-0 win at Millwall and an image he posted on social media in the aftermath showed the damage sustained from a tackle where he actually won the ball.
The Tigers ace is certainly out of the QPR game and it's likely he will miss Friday night's Yorkshire derby at Sheffield United while the stitches take time to settle. But it's expected he'll be fit for the first game of next month against fellow strugglers Stoke City at the MKM Stadium on February 1.

Coyle's absence will hand a chance to Cody Drameh, who replaced the experienced right-back at The Den, and performed really well as the Tigers eased to a deserved success by the River Thames.
City have no other injury concerns going into the Tuesday night meeting with the West London side, where victory would see them complete a league double having won 3-1 at Loftus Road in early October.
Kyle Joseph will not be involved in the contest after it was confirmed the relevant paperwork had not gone through in time but will be in the squad at Bramall Lane.
Ryan Giles, Ryan Longman, Chris Bedia and Anthony Racioppi will not feature with the quartet nearing moves away from the club, while interest in midfielder Xavier Simons may see him omitted from Selles' squad.
"He's not going to be available for tomorrow," Selles told Hull Live. "The doctor just said that the stitches need a little bit of time to settle. Lewie will be doubtful for the Sheffield game. It should not be much more than that game if he's not playing, but the good news is that it's not a big one, and he can be soon with us."
"No, not from the game (no other issues). There is nothing new in terms of injuries after the game on Saturday, and not one of the players who were out of the squad will be back."
After the exertions of Saturday, followed by a big home game on Tuesday night and then the small matter of a Yorkshire derby at Bramall Lane on Friday night, Selles admits he will have to manage the load of the players this week, particularly after the QPR clash.
And he says building on the pulsating draw against Leeds and then winning at Millwall is crucial now, in a similar way to what QPR have done, losing just once in 12 to move from the drop zone and away to the relative comfort of mid-table.
"I think now that is a challenge for us," he said. "The last time we had that was after the Blackburn game, and we didn't have our best performance, and we lost against Middlesbrough even though it was a late goal.
"What is the challenge for us, and is the decision that we need to make as a group,, it's about what we want to be.
"I think we want to be that team that can compete every three days and win football matches, be dominant, and that's what we need to try to do tomorrow. We will need all of our energy and our football if we want to play a good game."
Selles may be forced to make changes on Friday night, depending on how his players come through against Rangers, but says he will worry about that later in the week.
"We will take one game at a time," he continued. "The Millwall game is intense, but I will not say that it's more intense than some other games that you can play away.
"I will just manage the same as Blackburn or any other team that we have played. We will take one game at a time, so we need to be sure that tomorrow night we are ready to go, ready to compete for the three points and then ready to deliver a display, a good performance, and then the game on Friday will be on Friday.
"It becomes more (of an issue) in the last part of the week than in this first, from the first game to the second game. This kind of moment right now is about the Saturday game and the Tuesday game, which is something that we are quite used to doing.
"It will be more about Wednesday and Thursday, especially since some of the players start the game, some of the players and some of the positions are more likely to repeat (play again) because the load is a little bit less, and some of the positions demand a little bit more.
"Maybe you can go in the second game, but the third one will be a little bit too much to start; but again, we will take the third game when it comes. We will be focusing on tomorrow first."
On QPR, Selles was full of praise for the job his compatriot, Marti Cifuentes, has done in moving the R's away from danger. "I think the form QPR has now is the form everyone in the bottom 12 wants to try and emulate," Selles said.
"I think the turnover has been fantastic since the middle of October, end of October. They've got a lot of wins, a lot of points, a lot of good performances, and right now, together with Leeds United and I think Oxford, in the last six or seven games, they will be in the top of the (form) table, so it's a very difficult opponent.
"Marti is doing a great job there during this part of the season, and it's going to be a really good challenge for us."
