Hull City are set to confirm the signing of striker Kyle Joseph after making a breakthrough in talks with League One side Blackpool over the past 24 hours.

Joseph was left out of the Seasiders' squad for the 2-2 draw with Huddersfield Town on Saturday lunchtime after they struck a deal thought to be in the region of £2.5m for the 23-year-old Scotland Under-21 international.

Both clubs had reached an impasse earlier in the week over their respective valuations for the striker, who has netted seven goals at Bloomfield Road this season, with their valuations a little further apart.

Legendary former City boss Steve Bruce said on Thursday that it would take a big offer to prise the highly-rated forward away from the Fylde Coast, but the Tigers have hit the magic figure to get the deal done after discussions were ramped up on Friday in a bid to get the deal done, and after it was agreed, Joseph was pulled from the Tangerine's squad.

It's understood a medical has already been arranged with the forward keen to get the move wrapped up so he can feature in City's squad to take on QPR at the MKM Stadium on Tuesday night.

His arrival will provide another welcome boost for boss Ruben Selles, who masterminded a second away win on the spin at Millwall on Saturday afternoon. Jake Cooper's own goal in the second half proved the difference, as City moved out of the bottom three after a huge win on the road.

City have been keen to get as much business done early as possible, and so far, that's exactly what they've done with Joseph becoming their fifth signing so far. Joe Gelhardt, Matt Crooks and Nordin Amrabat all made their debuts in the second half at The Den, while Lincoln Henrique underwent a medical on Friday ahead of his proposed loan move from Fenerbahce.
