Hull City seek to clear transfer hurdle in quest to sign international winger
Hull City remain locked in talks to sign Huddersfield Town winger Sorba Thomas after boss Ruben Selles confirmed the club's interest in the 25-year-old.
Hull Live understands the Tigers have agreed a fee with the Terriers for the Welsh international, who is currently on loan in Ligue 1 with Nantes, but have hit a stumbling block with the French club who remain determined to keep him with him having a good relationship with boss Antoine Kombouaré.
Under the terms of the loan agreement which took him from the John Smith's Stadium to the Stade de la Beaujoire, Town are unable to recall him at this stage which has further complicated the deal.

Thomas played 66 minutes and claimed two assists in an impressive performance against Monaco on January 10 and then played a further 19 minutes against Saint Etienne on Sunday. But Thomas is understood to be keen to return to Yorkshire, where he has a young family, and join the Tigers.
City have broad agreement on a deal with the League One Terriers and were given permission to speak with the Welsh international earlier this month. However, the deal has frustratingly hit the buffers in the past couple of weeks, though the Tigers remain positive about getting it concluded before the window closes at 11pm on February 3.
Thomas has notched more than a century of appearances in the Championship and joined the French outfit on loan for the season with an option to make it permanent in the summer after Huddersfield’s relegation from the Championship last summer, but the hope remains that he will return to England’s second-tier, and boost City’s survival hopes.
The pacey winger is viewed as an important part of Selles’ January recruitment drive, given his attacking potency and vast second-tier experience with the Spaniard a big fan of Thomas.
City remain firmly in the race for Aston Villa starlet Louie Barry but will not sign both him and Thomas.
The Tigers have already added four players to Selles' squad so far this month after Kyle Joseph was announced on Monday evening, and are hopeful of confirming Eliot Matazo's permanent move from Monaco and Lincoln's loan switch from Fenerbahce in the next 24 hours.
Before the deadline, the Championship club are keen to sign a left-back to replace Ryan Giles who is edging closer to a move to Middlesbrough, while the club are also working on moving out a host of other players to free up space in their squad.
