Hull City head coach Ruben Selles says Ryan Longman will miss the next two weeks of the campaign with a groin injury he picked up at the end of Sunday's win at Blackburn Rovers, and he could have played his last game for the club.

Longman missed Wednesday night's 1-0 defeat at home to Middlesbrough and will not be involved against Leeds United on Saturday, and is a doubt for the FA Cup clash with Doncaster Rovers on Sunday week.

Interest has remained in Longman since last summer, with Scottish Premiership strugglers Hearts the latest to cast an eye over the 24-year-old, who spent last season on loan at City's Championship rivals Millwall.

City are prepared to allow Longman to move on this month, given he's out of contract in June, but will be desperate to make sure they have cover in that area, especially with Liam Millar and Mohamed Belloumi sidelined for the rest of the season, before sanctioning any potential exit.

If Longman remains at the MKM Stadium for the next few weeks, it's hoped he could return to the squad for the trip to face his former loan club, Millwall, at The Den, on January 18.

Losing Longman hands Selles another key blow, especially at a time when he's already without Millar, Belloumi, Carl Rushworth, Kasey Palmer, Oscar Zambrano and Charlie Hughes, but it's unlikely he'll have fresh options before the visit of the league leaders this weekend.

"The team is working on it," Selles said when asked if there was any progress. "We have a couple of things that I think are close but are not really close. I don't think it's going to make an impact in the next two or three days, so it's not going to be any news or a big surprise before Leeds.

"The club is working, but it's not an easy market now. We are working on it, and we are approaching situations where it can be done pretty quickly."

City know they must first move players out before they can bring players in, and the first exit of the window is expected to be Marvin Mehlem. The summer arrival has returned to Germany to seal a loan move to Bundesliga.2 side Paderborn.
