Hull FC have ruled three players out of Friday’s round two clash against Wigan Warriors, with another a severe doubt to play in the fixture. The Black and Whites are set to host the champions at the MKM Stadium, with John Cartwright providing a full update on the health of his squad this Tuesday afternoon.

As expected, the head coach has confirmed that son Jed Cartwright has a hamstring injury and will be out for around two weeks. Elsewhere, Amir Bourouh will be out after failing his HIA against Catalans Dragons. The hooker will sit out the 11-day concussion protocol and has to pass the necessary checkpoint to return to play. If he does that, then he’ll be good to go against Huddersfield Giants later this month.

Cartwright has also confirmed that Oliver Holmes will miss the round two clash with a knee injury, with the back rower seeing a specialist to correct the issue. Jack Ashworth too is a doubt, having picked up a sickness bug this week. The prop also had an HIA in Perpignan.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Cartwright said, "Jed will be out for a couple of weeks. He's got a low-level strain. It's hard to gauge with a hamstring, but it's not a bad one. We're hoping he will be back sooner rather than later.

"Amir is out of our hands. He’s got to tick some boxes between now and when we pick a side next week (Huddersfield game). He's good. When I spoke to him this morning, he was in good spirits. He's got a clear head, and hopefully he will just be out for the week. If he passes his tests next week, he will be available.

"Oliver won’t be available. He’s still carrying his knee injury. He’ll see a specialist this week. We'll have a bit of an idea on him once he's seen the specialist.

"Jack isn't well. He has got a bit of a bug at the moment. On the back of his head knock, he'll be in some doubt."

Cartwright has also confirmed that Ed Chamberlain will be back in the frame to face Wigan. The 28-year-old has trained this week and is fully in contention.

"Ed will be alright," Cartwright said. "He’s in full training this week. He’s trained the last two days, and he'll be available for selection."

Elsewhere, Hull will be without Davy Litten (MCL), Jack Charles (ankle), Matty Laidlaw (MCL), and Roman Dawson (ACL), with Cartwright set to pick his side from a similar 21 that was named last week.

Asked about new faces coming in, "Not outside of the 19 that we took to Catalans," Cartwright added. "We’ll sit down with the coaches; we've trained today, so we'll get through that, assess everyone's health, and then we'll pick a side."
