Hull FC ratings as Aidan Sezer and familiar favourite step up in Huddersfield victory
Hull FC ran out 11-10 winners at Huddersfield Giants on Friday night. The Black and Whites had a late Aidan Sezer drop-goal to thank, with tries coming from their two young wingers, Lewis Martin and Harvey Barron.
It was Martin who opened the scoring with an overturned video ref decision. Huddersfield then cancelled that out with two of their own, with Jacob Gagai and Adam Swift crossing over before half-time. However, a Barron interception drew the visitors level, with Sezer then landing the decisive blow. Here are the ratings.
Logan Moy - Brave at the back and never stood down as the last line of defence, even getting to grips with Tom Burgess at one stage. He was good on his feet as well in limited attacking chances. 6

Harvey Barron - Showed his pace with a 90-metre interception try and boy did he enjoy it. He also worked hard in the backfield with carry after carry and tried his best to stick to contact in defence. The scary thing? There’s still improvement in him. 8
Tom Briscoe - Carried hard and knuckled down when Hull needed him. 6
Jordan Rapana - In the centre here as Cartwright shuffled his backline. Less involved perhaps, but still did well. The knack of knowing when to jump in and steal metres is uncanny. Such an asset. 7
Lewis Martin - Scored the first try but it’s the work rate carrying the ball and the general energy and passion he plays with that earn him his plaudits. 8
Cade Cust - Hull were feeding off scraps, but Cust was still competitive and ran the ball hard. 6
Aidan Sezer - Kicked the 40/20 that gave Hull the field position to score the first try, then assisted the first try and also landed the decisive drop-goal blow. It was a tough game for Hull, but Sezer kept going and delivered when his side needed him the most. 8
Herman Ese’ese - The big prop is immense every time he pulls on a Hull FC shirt. Bounces off so many tackles and gets the offload away—cue Hull’s first try. He’s also under appreciated in defence and always steps up. 8
Amir Bourouh - Big workload at nine; his deception was good at times, especially given a lot of Hull’s possession was coming out of their own end. Also defended well. 7
Yusuf Aydin - His usual dependable self. He doesn’t stop. Big defensive workload and also carried hard. 7
Ed Chamberlain - Moved to the back row but took a bang to his head and didn’t return. Cartwright spoke of his troubles post-match. Certainly done it tough so far this year. 5
Jordan Lane - Held his own on both sides of the ball. 6
John Asiata - Came up with a big play to force a repeat set late in the game. Mixed his passing game up with his stint after his sin bin very impressive. 7
Jack Ashworth - A strong show off the bench. Always puts himself about and plays with enthusiasm. 6
Brad Fash - Got stuck in off the bench, particularly in defence. 6
Hugo Salabio - Looked to get Hull going but the side were against the grain. He's fiery, though. Definitely something for Carwtright to work with. 6
Denive Balmforth - Limped off the field after coming on not long before. He had ice on his hamstring post-match. 5
