Hull FC have launched a sensational move for Salford Red Devils half-back Marc Sneyd. Hull Live understands that the Black and Whites are gunning to bring their Challenge Cup-winning star back to the club, putting in a huge bid for the 33-year-old.

The understanding is the club are leaving no stone unturned in their pursuit and are going all out for Sneyd, having parted company with Jordan Abdull this week. The Hull-born half-back, who signed a three-year deal starting in 2025, has come to an agreement on a release after a difficult start in pre-season that saw him hampered by injury. However, no official word has come from the club, who are remaining tight-lipped on the situation.

Meanwhile, Hull Live understands that Salford are very reluctant to sell players. However, the general consensus is that they will have to move players on due to financial difficulties and will do so very soon.

Hull are well aware of that reality and are keen to bring Sneyd back to East Yorkshire. However, any deal is still a way off completion, with Hull having to tempt the player back to the club where he won two Lance Todd Trophies as Man of the Match in the 2016 and 2017 Challenge Cup finals.

They are understood to have put in a huge offer to try and do that, with Leigh Leopards also believed to be looking for a half-back. There has been a suggestion that Sneyd is on the Leythers' radar. However, Hull, who have the salary cap space and the financial scope under Andrew Thirkill and Davod Hood's ownership, will go all out now to return their former prized asset to the club.

Elsewhere, Hull are also gunning for another Salford player in Deon Cross, as exclusively reported by Hull Live last month. The hope is that Cross, capable of playing centre or wing, will join the club, which signed Hugo Salabio as their 10th new recruit last month.

Sneyd, meanwhile, left Hull at the end of the 2021 season and has spent the last three seasons at Salford, where he made his England debut two years ago. He was also shortlisted for the Man of Steel award and is still one of the best halves in the competition.

He made 175 appearances for Hull between 2015 and 2021, kicking over 600 goals. To date, he has made 341 career appearances and is closing in on 3,500 career points.
