Hull KR's first 21-man squad of the 2025 season has been named, and Willie Peters is set to name a strong team when the Robins head to York in the Challenge Cup. Peters had stated that he would be picking his strongest side for the contest and that looks set to be the case, with every player with a top 17 squad number named in the extended team list.

It means the likes of Tom Davies, Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, Micky McIlorum and Rhyse Martin could all make their debuts for the Robins on Friday night when they head to the LNER Community Stadium.

The match will be the first run-out for the majority involved. Jack Broadbent, Kelepi Tanginoa, Jack Brown and Bill Leyland are the only four players named in the squad who played in Rovers' only pre-season trial game, also against York, in Amsterdam.

The squad also highlights the general health of the group at present. The Robins have avoided significant injury to present and even Sam Luckley, who has had a disrupted pre-season due to wrist surgery, has been cleared to play if selected.

Danny Richardson is the highest on the squad list not to make the cut, with the halfback wearing number 19.

Peters' team will be the clearest indication yet of his current line of thinking ahead of the Super League opener with Castleford Tigers a week on Friday. The Robins are set to show full respect to York, Championship semi-finalists last year who progressed to the third round after thumping Keighley Cougars 72-12.

Hull KR's 21-man squad: Niall Evalds, Tom Davies, Peta Hiku, Oliver Gildart, Joe Burgess, Mikey Lewis, Tyrone May, Sauaso Sue, Jez Litten, Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, Dean Hadley, James Batchelor, Elliot Minchella, Micky McIlorum, Sam Luckley, Jai Whitbread, Rhyse Martin, Jack Broadbent, Kelepi Tanginoa, Jack Brown, Bill Leyland.
