The Hull KR position switch prompted by new injury concern
Willie Peters has revealed one potential injury blow for Hull KR, which resulted in a late positional switch-up. The Robins overcame a scare to defeat Castleford Tigers, with Mikey Lewis' golden point drop goal securing the win.
Lewis ended the game at fullback as a result of a late swap that saw Niall Evalds moved into the halves. It was a surprise move to many, including the head coach himself.
The change wasn't planned and on the face of it, didn't make a great deal of sense either. While Lewis has played at fullback before, Evalds has become a specialist fullback over the years, playing on the wing before that.

But after the game, Peters revealed it was a result of an injury Evalds had suffered, even if he didn't think the logic behind the move made a great deal of sense!
"They did it themselves because Niall had a rib injury," he revealed. "They moved it, I let it go, I spoke to Niall after the game and he just felt it but I don't really get it because you have to do more defence!"
That said, Peters said he was happy for the change to be made, trusting the judgment of his players.
"I let it go because I wanted some feedback on why. I didn't think it was a bad thing because it meant Mikey could get his hands on the ball as well, so I left it. When players do things like that, I look at the positive and I could see Mikey could get his hands on the ball. Niall just had to make his tackles, which he did, so I'm OK with it.
"I got some feedback on it, but I certainly needed more! But I'm OK with it."
Evalds will now be assessed ahead of the trip to Wakefield Trinity on Thursday. Rovers picked up no further injuries in the game and will hope Evalds can beat the short turnaround.
