Hull KR's Amsterdam takeover is underway, with the Robins making the trip to the Netherlands ahead of the inaugural pre-season fixture overseas. Over a thousand supporters have started making the trip over for the event, which will see a Rovers side take on Championship opponents York Knights.

Operationally, it has taken a huge effort from all areas of the club, with staff starting to arrive as early as last weekend. Last Sunday, members of the club's foundation department started to arrive ahead of an extensive delivery of rugby league in the local area. Over 1,000 local children, within schools and local rugby clubs, have received coaching throughout the week leading into the game, with some of them going on to buy tickets for the match this weekend.

But Rovers' preparation for the match itself has had to be well thought out. On Thursday, Rovers sent out their matchday experience team to start preparing the the NRCA Stadium. The club has promised to bring their matchday experience to Amsterdam, including a Craven Streat-style offering to make fans feel at home away from home. But beyond that, Rovers' staff are tasked with turning the facility into a rugby league friendly stadium, which includes changing the dimensions of the pitch and the appropriate pitch markings.

Friday morning saw club cult hero and kitman, Bonesy, head to Dover with stadium project manager Phil Stow as they caught the ferry over, team van in tow, with all the required essentials, including match balls, tackle shields, corner flags and even oxygen tanks. Quite the different commute from the usual trek across the M62.

Head coach Willie Peters, as well as first-team players Jared Waerea-Hargreaves and Dean Hadley, flew from Manchester Airport. They flew early so they could be present at the club's welcome party for supporters at Belushi's, with a lively night expected for supporters.

Saturday will see the two playing groups arrive, and they will be coming in and out on the day for the match. All in all, Rovers have had their work cut out to make this a reality. But now, they're ready to go.
