Hundreds of runners took part in Isle of Wight parkrun over the festive period.

The weekly run held one special event on Christmas morning, in which 310 participants took part and Christopher Murphy ran his 500th parkrun.

The 'official' Santa parkrun took place on Saturday, December 21, where run director Chris Amy encouraged 214 participants in a celebratory atmosphere.

Ben Taylor was first across the line at this run, in a time of 17 minutes and 37 seconds, followed by regulars George Eastwood and Gary Marshall.

The first female runner across the line was junior Emily Bunn in 22 minutes and 24 seconds, followed by Clarie Grace and Jane Burton.

The run on Saturday, December 28 saw 333 participants, and Chris Powell completed her 500th parkrun, all of which she has run on the Island.

A parkrun was scheduled for New Year's Day, but was cancelled due to high winds.

parkrun returns on Saturday, January 4, with the run briefing next to Medina Leisure Centre for a 9am start.
