Ipswich Town attacker Omari Hutchinson is due to be sidelined for 'weeks' after missing today's 2-2 draw at Fulham with a groin injury.

Hutchinson, whose goal clinched Monday night's 2-0 home win against his former club Chelsea, started 33 games in 2024.

On his absence today, McKenna explained: "It's his groin. He's going to be out for weeks.

"It happened at the very start of the first session back after the Chelsea game. He put in a helluva shift against Arsenal and Chelsea, so it's an overuse injury really, but they're going to happen over the course of the season, especially with the output that Omari's had.

"It was disappointing to lose him for today, but it's the FA Cup next weekend and we'll recover him as quickly as we can."

Hutchinson joins Axel Tuanzebe (hamstring), Chiedozie Ogbene (Achilles) and George Hirst (hamstring) in the treatment room.

"We don't speak about the injuries too much, but we've missed important players all season, the Christmas games included," said McKenna.

"We missed Liam (against Newcastle) and Samy (Morsy, at Arsenal) through suspensions, now Omari (Hutchinson). We've had to make more changes, at times, than we would have wanted but everyone in the group is fighting. We've got lots of players standing up and it's a testament to the group.

"Hopefully we'll have good availability for the second half of the season, hopefully we'll make some good additions in January and keep trying to take on this really big challenge."
