Ian Subiabre to Arsenal transfer - Arteta demand, Chelsea interest, 'next Julian Alvarez' talks
Ian Subiabre has recently emerged as a potential target for Arsenal ahead of the summer transfer window. The 18-year-old winger has recently been linked with a move to the Premier League after breaking into the River Plate first-team.
Last year, Subiabre featured four times for the Argentinian giants, featuring off the bench to get his first taste of top-flight football. Then, after returning from international duty at the Under-20 South American Championships, Marcelo Gallardo handed the teenager his first appearance of the new year.
Subiabre, who sees his contract at the Estadio Monumental expire in December 2026, was given a run out against Club Estudiantes de La Plata in the Torneo Apertura. Having now impressed for River Plate in both the reserves and the first-team, European clubs are reportedly queuing up for his signature.

Arsenal monitor River Plate youngster
According to CaughtOffside, Arsenal are monitoring the development of Subiabre. The report claims the Gunners have already held talks with the player's representatives regarding a potential move, but no offer has been made so far.
It's said that Subiabre has a €30m (£24.8m) release clause in his contract and River Plate are ready to sell if an offer is made. CaughtOffside add that Arsenal are joined by Chelsea, West Ham and Aston Villa in the race to sign the teenager, as well as Benfica, and Villareal.
'Next Alvarez' explains Arsenal role
Subiabre has previously compared himself to Julian Alvarez and explained how he can operate across the frontline. As quoted by the La Pagina Millonaria, the River Plate prospect said: "I am a powerful and goal-scoring forward. And I am strong in one-on-one situations.
"I like to drop back to join up with my teammates and provide assists. I can also play on the right or left wing," added Subiabre. "Julián Álvarez is an extraordinary player. For me, he is an example. He has skill, he is a goalscorer and he is constantly pressing. He understands the game perfectly."
Arteta left disappointed by Arsenal chiefs
During the January transfer window, Mikel Arteta regularly called on the Arsenal board to bolster his squad following injuries to numerous players. Despite publicly asking for reinforcements on several occasions, the Spaniard's requests ultimately fell on deaf ears, leaving him disappointed.
Arteta said: "We had a clear intention which is always when a window opens for us to explore the opportunities to improve our squad with players that can make an impact. With players injured, we've been impacted - and we haven't achieved it.
"We are disappointed in that sense but as well we are very aware that we only want to bring certain kinds of players and we have to be very disciplined with that as well. I think that we were.
"It's in the profile, a player that we believe can make us much better. Financially there is a lot of ways, and a lot of things that we must stay in the lane that has taken us this far and from there try to improve."
