Ian Wright reckons Arsenal can still make up for Bukayo Saka's injury by signing two reinforcements in January.

Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has been dealt a major blow heading into the campaign's festive fixtures - with Saka tearing his hamstring. It's the third time he's injured that part of his body this season.

football.london understands that Saka will "probably" be out of action until late-January. However, reports from elsewhere have indicated that he might not feature again until March - increasing Arsenal's concern.

If that proves to be the case, the Gunners' challenge for the Premier League title could be impacted significantly. Arsenal hero Wright believes his former club can still salvage their season, should Saka be side-lined for a lengthy period, but only if they act in the transfer market.

"There are two players I would probably go for here," he told the Wrighty's House podcast. "I'd like their people to have a look at Omar Marmoush at Eintracht Frankfurt and Ademola Lookman at Atalanta."

Wright continued: "I'm going hard on those two! Go and look at Omar Marmoush at Eintracht Frankfurt, what he's doing. He [Marmoush] assists, he takes corners... he has really good pace. You look at those two - the way we play and what we need - and both of them would be perfect. They would be brilliant."

Lookman was named African Player of the Year for his outstanding performances for Atalanta and Nigeria. "Yeah, but the thing is, that's like a real wish," Wright added.

"African Player of the Year, congratulations! He looked amazing. Congratulations, Ademola. Great story.

"I saw a little documentary on him and it was so uplifting, his journey, so congratulations to him."

Arteta, meanwhile, has previously said he doesn't expect a busy January transfer window. "I never expect January to be super busy, but we have to wait and see where we are," the Spaniard told reporters.

"Some surprises can come, we are prepared for that, some opportunities as well, and we have to see.

"Hopefully, the squad availability is going to be better in a few weeks - so we will have to wait and see."
