Ian Wright responds to Premier League statement after Arsenal controversy
Ian Wright has responded to reports that the Premier League could clamp down on certain types of player goal celebrations.
It follows criticism of certain celebrations, which some believe have overstepped the mark by ridiculing their opponents. Arsenal's Myles Lewis-Skelly was seen imitating Manchester City's Erling Haaland's goal celebration at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon and faced no repercussions.
The Gunners ultimately triumphed over City with a 5-1 victory in north London. Lewis-Skelly's actions were in response to Haaland goading at the end of a heated 2-2 draw at the Etihad Stadium in September, where the Norwegian was heard saying, "Who are you?"

Former Arsenal forward Theo Walcott praised Lewis-Skelly for his strength of character. "He was not afraid of Haaland at all," the ex-winger said.
And in response to reports that individual players could be punished for their celebrations, Gunners legend Wright shared his mocking disbelief.
"They would be calling for me to be locked up!!!" he said on X, accompanied by seven laughing face emojis. "VAR already taking away the celebrations and now this! Kmt (kiss my teeth)."
The Premier League's chief football officer, Tony Scholes, said: "There's a balance. I think we all like to see celebrations.
"Some of the celebrations have been very funny, entertaining, but there's a line. Once it crosses over into mockery or criticism, then we would need to deal with it."
Arsenal will now be able to turn their attention to the Premier League for the time being after being knocked out of both domestic cups. Mikel Arteta's side were knocked out of the FA Cup in January, so will have a break this weekend before their next league fixture away at Leicester City on February 15.
