I'd only sell Darwin Nunez for £100m - Liverpool cannot let him leave now
Darwin Nunez sent a timely reminder of his importance to Liverpool at the weekend. The striker climbed off the bench to score twice in injury-time to fire the Reds to a vital 2-0 victory at Brentford.
It's a victory that leaves Liverpool six points clear of Arsenal at the top of the Premier League with the added bonus of a game in hand.
Given Arne Slot's side are also on the verge of qualification to the Champions League knockout stages, in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup, and with a favourable FA Cup fourth-round tie at Championship basement boys Plymouth Argyle, it's all to play for at Anfield.

And with Diogo Jota facing a new spell on the sidelines, Nunez could be set for more opportunities.
His match-winning goals against Brentford were his first in the Premier League since the 2-0 triumph at home to Aston Villa on November 9. They also took his tally for the term up to six in 27 appearances.
That less than blistering return has led to speculation over the long-term future of Nunez at Anfield. The 25-year-old, who signed for the Reds in the summer of 2022 from Benfica for a club record £85m, has been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League.
Liverpool legend Didi Hamann admits a mega-money Saudi offer could tempt him into selling the Uruguayan. But he would much prefer Nunez to remain at the club where he won the Champions League in 2005.
"Darwin Nunez is a modern footballer who can lead the line on his own and is a huge presence and I wouldn’t be surprised if he got 25 goals a season again at another club where he could hit the ground running," said Hamann.
"But I’d be very surprised if Liverpool didn’t make a loss on him although that could recoup a big part of the money they paid.
"The issue is when you sell up and if they want to get that money now, I wouldn’t sell in January because Liverpool are in all four competitions and could play another 30 games in the next four months.
"You need strength in depth so it would be a mistake to let him go now. He can be a very important player and it would cost a lot of money to replace him.
"If a Saudi club came in with a bid for £100m then you have to take it. But I’d be reluctant to sell."
The Reds host Lille in the Champions League tonight (8pm). After winning their opening six group games, a victory or a draw this evening would definitely secure their place in the round of 16.
Table-topping Liverpool then host relegation-threatened Ipswich Town in the Premier League on Saturday (3pm).
Coming hot on the heels of that match is the FA Cup tie at Plymouth and the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg at home to Tottenham Hotspur, who lead 1-0 from the first leg.
And Hamann, speaking to Best OffShore Sportsbooks, said: "Liverpool fans should be dreaming of winning the Treble, but the players won’t be.
"They have a chance to overturn a deficit in the League Cup and are top in the Premier League and the Champions League, but we’ve seen how hard it is to win four trophies after Manchester City came up short.
"Things change very quickly in football and you need your key players fit in March and April when the business end of the season comes along. Are Liverpool capable of winning the Quadruple? Yes they are.
"But anything can happen and they certainly shouldn’t be too disappointed if they only win one or two trophies."
